Final Girls - Book Review

Final Girls - Book Review - Incredible Opinions

Final Girls  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Author - Riley Sager
Publisher - Penguin Random House

This is my 3rd book from Riley Sager after “Lock Every Door” and “The Last Time I Lied”. Yes, I read them in the reverse order they have been written. Did it make a difference? Absolutely not, Riley has been hitting home runs ever since he made his debut with this very book “Final Girls”.

Quincy Carpenter, a college student who went on vacation with five friends, becomes the only survivor of a horror movie-scale massacre. She becomes the member of an unenviable club of similar survivors known in the press as Final Girls. She comes in contact with 2 other Final Girls - Lisa and Sam. When Lisa is found dead in her apartment, Sam shows up at Quincy’s doorstep only to convulse Quincy’s current life. There are a lots of secrets related to Lisa’s death, Sam’s disappearance for a while and Quincy’s memory loss after her massacre encounter which need to be revealed.

Sager’s debut novel has everything that keeps the reader guessing until the final twist. All the characters are absolutely erratic and apathetic. It is such a compulsive read that I kept turning pages faster and faster. Just when I thought that I’ve figured out the storyline, the story swivels to another direction. This is the story which I believe can be showcased as a movie. Just like Riley’s other books, it is going to stay in my mind for a while.

I’ll definitely recommend it to fellow readers who like psychologic thrillers and Riley Sager’s writing style.
