After I Do - Book Review

After I Do - Book Review - Incredible Opinions

Synopsis

When Lauren and Ryan’s marriage reaches the breaking point, they come up with an unconventional plan. They decide to take a year off in the hopes of finding a way to fall in love again. One year apart, and only one rule: they cannot contact each other. Aside from that, anything goes.

Lauren embarks on a journey of self-discovery, quickly finding that her friends and family have their own ideas about the meaning of marriage. These influences, as well as her own healing process and the challenges of living apart from Ryan, begin to change Lauren’s ideas about monogamy and marriage. She starts to question: When you can have romance without loyalty and commitment without marriage, when love and lust are no longer tied together, what do you value? What are you willing to fight for?

“Just because you can live without someone doesn't mean you want to.” ― Taylor Jenkins Reid, After I Do

Review

My fifth book by Taylor Jenkins Reid and do I feel any different? A Huge "NO". Taylor Jenkins Reid aka TJR knows how to capture her reader's attention with her writing and relatable stories.

The book is about a married couple who at one point of their marriage, feels that their love towards each other is fading and thus, decide to give their marriage a year break.

I loved the character development all around the book especially, the main protagonist, Lauren. The whole book is written from her POV and she comes out as a person who is not afraid to speak her mind. Her self- discovery during the time she stays away from her husband is probably the best part of the book for me.

As always, TJR books are non-complicated yet very interesting. I always tend to learn something about myself after I finish one of her books and this time I learned that there is no rule for love to work. Life goes on, no matter what I choose in life.

If you are looking for an inspiring book, has meaningful quotes and can end your reading slump, this is the book for you! Highly recommended.
