Virat Kohli, with his performance, won our hearts yet again. I am a die hard fan of his batting style too but I am not talking about his most recent fantastic knock against Pakistan and Australia in World Cup T20. I absolutely loved his performance on social media today when he defended his ex-girlfriend, Anushka Sharma from a spate of trolls.



Anushka Sharma, a famous bollywood actress, who once was in a relationship with Virat Kohli, has to bear the brunt each time Virat Kohli succeeds or fails to score runs. If he scores and saves India from a defeat, people thank Anushka for leaving him and if he fails, they blame her to be in his life.

Most recently, Virat scored 82* of just 51 balls and helped India to save a berth in semifinals in World cup T20. When most of his fans were thanking him for his much needed and absolutely amazing knock, some fans were busy trolling Anushka Sharma instead and were thanking her for leaving him so that he can concentrate more on his cricket.

This is probably not the first time when Anushka Sharma is trolled but as wise and mature she is, she decides not to be affected by these idiotic trolls. She never responds to them and have always moved on in her life graciously.

Virat Kohli, showing self-respect and sensitivity, defended her this time on twitter and instagram. He spoke in her defence who always get agonized due to their past relationship.

Freedom of speech is not a licence to be stupid.

Just because we have freedom of speech,  it does not mean that we have a licence to abuse someone publicly. It just shows how responsible citizen we are towards our society and how illiterate we are, not forgetting to mention that it also shows the side of such mindsets where it is considered very convenient to suppress or malign any women easily. If we have freedom to post anything on the social media, we have to act with sensibility and compassion. When compassion is lost in the name of freedom of speech, we are no different than animals!

My friends love Indian food. None of them belongs to India but they crave for butter chicken, curry, chai tea (as foreigners call it). Of course, it is our food that makes us special in the world. Indian food, famous for its spices which contribute to 70% of the total world spices, are famous and widely used by people worldwide.

Do you know that 195 million people of the same country sleep hungry every day?

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, who in his recent visit to US made this statement when he was being appreciated about the number of Sikhs in his cabinet.

A wave of laughter spread afterwards when a student named Jahan, from Punjab province of Pakistan told the Canadian Prime Minister that it was great to see so many Punjabis in his cabinet.

He was justified in saying so because currently PM Modi's cabinet has two Sikh ministers out of 66 ministers:

1. Maneka Gandhi - born as a Sikh (Minister of Women & Child Development)
2. Harsimrat Kaur Badal (Minister of Food Processing)

Trudeau's cabinet has four Sikh ministers out of 31 ministers:

1. Harjit Sajjan (Defence Minister)
2. Bardish Chagger (Minister of Small Business and Tourism)
3. Amarjeet Sohi (Minister of Infrastructure & Communities)
4. Navdeep Bains (Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development)

Do you love your hair like everyone else?
Do you love it when someone compliments you for your beautiful hair?

Of course! right?
I do too and like every other woman, I blush too when someone compliments my hair.
Wouldn't it be nice if share my beautiful hair with someone else too? The idea of donating my hair rang in my head a few months ago and I started researching more about it.

I must admit that it was not easy for me to get my 14" of hair chopped specially when I have been very possessive about them. It did take me a while to land up at the door of salon to ask the lady to chop it off. It was the first haircut for me in 18 years (it stopped growing any longer after sometime) and the result was amazing!


It takes 6 ponytails to make a wig. Donated hair is used in making wigs or hair extensions for the people who suffer from hair loss due to chemotherapy in cancer treatment. There are other medical conditions as well which result in permanent hair loss. Losing hair for cancer patients is the one of the biggest social stigmas and they worry about their appearances and people's perception towards them. Wigs help them to conceal their illness and they embrace their appearance with positive attitude.

Wigs are not cheap at all and not everyone is financially blessed to afford wigs. The patients must be paying hefty sum of money for their treatment already. Real-hair wigs which look more natural do cost a lot. Someone who is going through physical and emotional pain, it is very difficult to pay for a wig.

HOW TO DONATE

While researching for hair donations, I found many people who want to donate their hair but they don't how to do it. Here is a little try from me to illustrate it.

After you ensure that your hair meet the requirements for the donation, you can go to the salon or follow the instructions yourself.

1. Wash and clean your hair without using any additional hair styling products like hairspray.
2. Gather your hair from the nape of your neck.
3. Create a ponytail or a braid with an elastic band. It should be tight enough to hold the hair because if hair comes out of it, the lose hair can't be used in donation. 
4. At the bottom of the ponytail or the braid, tie another elastic band to hold the ponytail from the bottom.
5. Measure the ponytail if it is minimum 10" long. You can donate as much as you want but it is a minimum requirement for the donation.
6. Cut the ponytail just above the top elastic band so that the elastic band is included in the ponytail.
7. Put the ponytail in the plastic bag and seal it properly. 
8. Just drop it off in person or mail it to the organisation near you who accepts hair donation.

I donated mine to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, Canada.  Sharing a beautiful letter that I received after they decided to use my hair in making a wig.

He, himself, is a promise that I'll have a friend forever.

1. Not taking much time to get ready : Please do not try and change 10 different outfits to see which one looks better on you, when we have little time in our hands to go to an occasion. Yes, in our case, it is the man of the house who takes more time to get ready and not the woman. It is really annoying to wait in the car by myself and see you coming out with different outfits every 5 minutes and asking me how do you look. Even though I say that you look absolutely fine, I do mean it. You have to believe me and get in the car soon. However, you do remember the little time we have to make it to the occasion when you are reminded of the mess you just made with all the tried outfits. So be ready on time and keep the mess of tried outfits away!
2. Selfies & photos : I always have plenty of time in my hands while waiting for you in the car,  please do not get annoyed when you see me pouting and taking selfies of the outfit I wear while waiting for you. If I ask you to be included in the selfie, please pout with me to have a couple selfie. We can share these memories with our future kids that how we both looked when we didn't have them. Also, when it comes to taking pictures of snow, rain or anything that looks picturesque to me, please do not get annoyed at over usage of the SD card. You can always buy me one, right?
3. New phones : Yes, this is my 4th phone in 2 years but atleast I make full use of it unlike you, who hardly use the phone. I may be very careless in using them or dropping them (always accidentally) but I don't do it deliberately. Please don't count the number of phones I broke and don't remind each time the only phone you have been using for the last 4 years since you are very careful in managing gadgets. Please consider the usage as well....who uses it more?
4. Be a bollywood drama "King" :  Since you bring office work to home, I can understand that you always have work pressure. I don't complain for you not giving me enough time as I go through this too but when I call you at your office number to just say Hi!,  please respond more than ...."I am busy". I also work in an office and make my boss look like I am making a work related call to another department. How can you not pretend it and talk to me for more than 10 seconds? Bollywood movies come in handy and please follow them when you don't know how to speak to your wife "in disguise" from your office. Please write more than "K" as a reply in your texts when I ask you something in minimum 200 words.
5. Listen to hindi romantic songs : Another #kasam (promise) I need you to make is that when a romantic hindi song comes to play on car radio, you won't change the channel and listen to political debates. I crave for news too but not the debates. Our car turns into a political ground where we both have different opinions (Remember? different personality traits!). So please don't ruin the short ride from home to the train station as this is the only time in the morning when we see each other before a long working day!
6. Believe in my physical strength : You have to let me give you a hand in shovelling the snow from our driveway. You cannot keep on doing it by yourself since it needs a lot of power and energy. If you can lend me hand in household chores, I can definitely lend you my hand in shovelling the snow or any other work which requires physical energy. I cannot be mean seeing you doing all the heavy weight lifting work by yourself.
7. Keep soothing me when I am angry & comply to all the above ones :  You seem to be doing a good job in ending arguments and I want you to keep doing it every time we argue on something. Every time I throw a tantrum, please be my side and soothe me how you always do. I am so used to your appeasing so I just want you not to lose your patience and keep doing it as I'd love to be soothed by you for no reason. 

God forbid if there is an emergency at your home, whom will you approach first?
Relatives?
Friends?
Neighbours?
Yes! You are absolutely right. Neighbours!

You cannot deny the existence of a neighbour as everyone in the world has at least one neighbour but in the rat race of fame and success these days, we are probably ignoring their importance.

I thank my stars for being born and brought up in India where neighbours are still considered the vital part of our social life. They are the first to be approached in times of sorrow, happiness or any emergency situation due to their proximity. Neighbours, if you are blessed with the good ones, can make your life smooth in the neighbourhood and if you are cursed with the bad ones, you might have to be patient with them or just try to ignore their existence which is quite arduous.

I have neighbour's bliss in Toronto as well. Last year, when we moved to our new house, the ‘desi’ instinct in me was inquisitive to know who would be our new neighbours. We were excited to know that our neighbours were from Pakistan and they were equally excited to know it too. Our attitude towards our neighbours should not change irrespective of their background and this wisdom has been bestowed upon us by our very own multi-cultural and diverse country, India.
